Description

A World Heritage Site since 1985 and Galicia's most cosmopolitan city, Santiago de Compostela has attracted visitors and pilgrims from all over the world for centuries. Santiago is big. And that's how it makes us feel!

The city's landscapes will delight your senses! Nestled between the Lima river and the Atlantic Ocean, Viana do Castelo is a city of great monumental and historical wealth.

Considered to be one of the best-preserved medieval fortifications in Europe, it has a fairytale atmosphere and an intense commercial activity related to household goods, textiles and towels, and is still a reference point for "nuestros hermanos" who come to Valença almost every day to eat codfish and buy towels.

Two countries in one day. Join us on this sacred journey!

Itinerary

Duration: 11h

.

Porto
We will start this full-day excursion, lasting approximately 11 hours, from your Hotel, crossing the North of Portugal and heading towards the Spanish border, with Santiago de Compostela as our initial destination.

Santiago de Compostela
Santiago is a vibrant city with a unique mix of pilgrims, tourists, locals and students. In the historic quarter, the Cathedral and the Portico de la Gloria are noteworthy. Symbolic squares such as the Obradoiro, the Quintana and the Toural are also worth a visit. Dozens of churches, convents and palaces. Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque. And stores, bars, restaurants and a lovely market overflowing with fresh produce. At 12 noon, we suggest that you attend the Pilgrim's Mass, the highest exponent of the final line of the "Camino de Santiago"! For lunch, we recommend the typical dish "Paella".

Viana do Castelo
We will then return to Portugal, stopping in the pleasant city of Viana do Castelo, one of the most beautiful cities in the north of Portugal. Its participation in the Portuguese Discoveries and, later, in cod fishing, show its traditional connection to the sea. Blessing its inhabitants from the highest point of the city, the Basilica of Santa Luzia offers a breathtaking view of the city, the Lima river valley and the Atlantic Ocean.

Valencia
Optionally, you can choose to stop in the walled city bordering neighboring Galicia. Considered one of the best preserved medieval fortifications in Europe, it has a fairy-tale atmosphere and an intense commercial activity related to household items, textiles and towels, still a reference point for "nuestros hermanos" who almost every day invade Valença to eat codfish and buy towels.
